Meet the Board…

Frances Torrington

Having held a number of trustee roles in charities in the past including Riding for the Disabled, and having spent some time volunteering for Suffolk Mind and Riding for the Disabled, amongst other charities, I felt that I had skills to join The Befriending Scheme as a trustee. I live locally to the charity and hope to be able to be involved with charity as a volunteer as well as a trustee. I am delighted to be joining the Board of Trustees and look forward to working with this inspirational charity.

As a biomedical scientist with experience in public health, I am excited to join The Befriending Scheme (TBS) and support its mission of reducing social isolation and promoting well-being for vulnerable adults, including those with learning disabilities, mental health needs, older people and other isolated groups in the community. My particular interest in technology and its applications in healthcare further motivates me to contribute to the TBS’ work.
I am passionate about using my skills and knowledge to help make a positive impact on the lives of others, and I am eager to work with the TBS team to achieve this goal. I believe that by working together, we can ensure that vulnerable adults in the community receive the support they need to thrive.

Having formerly worked for TBS I know what a great charity it is and have seen first hand the huge difference it makes to its members and their families. I believe I now have a role to play in ensuring that the charity’s valuable work is there for future generations to enjoy. I look forward to working with my fellow trustees to ensure that TBS is the best it can be.
