Stowmarket Hub had a visit from the community dentist this week.
“Now we all have sparkling teeth!” Says Area Coordinator, Clare.
In previous weeks they had an exciting visit from the Stowmarket Police station.
The Officers gave an interesting and informative talk on personal safety, which our members found very helpful.
On Thursday 3rd October, there will be a volunteer fair at Haverhill Library, on Camps road. If you want any information about volunteering with us, Hannah will be there with leaflets and flyers about our services…she can answer any questions you may have.
The Befriending Scheme’s ‘Bury St Edmunds Hub’ raised just over £25 from their Macmillan Coffee Morning on Wednesday.
There was a selection of cakes and sweet treats available thanks to the wonderful members and volunteers at the hub.
The Befriending Scheme is organising a trip to Colchester Zoo for unpaid carers and the individuals you care for.
If you would like to book a space on the trip, or would like some more information, please call Sophie on 01787 371333, or e-mail info@thebefriendingscheme.org.uk.
Please note that the cost for the trip is £5 per person. This includes a coach to and from the Zoo, and entrance to the zoo.
You will need to cover the cost of lunch and other expenditures.
The £5 will be required upfront to book a space on the coach.

July, our Stowmarket members enjoyed Rickshaw rides around town courtesy of ‘The Stowmarket Rickshaw Project’. The members made the most of the good weather as they were escorted on short trips through the village.
As you may know, The befriending scheme (TBS) is on the shortlist to win a share of Persimmon Homes’ “Building futures” £1 million fund, to go towards our Friends Community Farm Hub. due to this, Persimmon’s have recently reached out to us and invited our CEO, Shirley Moore and Operations Manager, Hannah Seymour to attend a Gala event. This event will include a ‘Great Persimmons Bake Off’ which Shirley and Hannah have been invited to judge, as ‘VIP guests’. Due to the scale of the event, this is an exciting opportunity to make more people aware of our organisation and the work that we do. As well as this it is a chance for us to secure more votes and boost our chance of winning a share of the £1 million fund! With the date of the event still to be confirmed, we are waiting in anticipation for more details…
